LCMS girls go 2-1 in opener

The Lincoln County Middle School girls basketball teams got the 2017-18 season off to a strong start, going 2-1 against Anderson County.
The Lady Eagles sixth-grade squad got the night started with a win, defeating the Anderson sixth-graders 26-14, then the Lincoln seventh-grade team followed with a 25-8 rout. Lincoln’s eighth-grade team could not complete the sweep of Anderson, falling 37-23 in the final game.
Talynne Shearer paced the Lincoln sixth-grade team in its win with 17 points. Makayla Greer added four points, Chelsea Barnes had three and Maecey Carrier had two.
In the seventh-grade game, Chloee Dunn was Lincoln’s scoring leader with eight points. Chloe Ralston followed with six points, Shearer and Peyton Boyd each had four points, Emmie Releford had two points and Emily Estes had a free throw toss.
Ally Lynn led the Lady Eagles in the eighth-grade game, finishing with seven points. Alyvia Taylor contributed five points, Kelby Petrey, Dunn and Ralston had three points apiece and Abby Lane had two points.
