Charles “Charlie” Lewis Walker, age 54, of Somerset, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Charlie was born on December 8, 1962, in Somerset, KY to Patsy Irene May Walker and the late Jerry Baston Walker. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, shopping and spending time with his family. He was also an avid reader and dancer, and enjoyed working outside. Charlie was a 22-year veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Desert Storm as a weather forecaster. He was a member of Pilot Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kay Walker whom he married on November 6, 1995 in Somerset, KY; his mother, Patsy Walker of Somerset; a son, Ethan Charles Walker of Somerset; two daughters, Angela Marie Walker of Waynesburg and Alicia Jo Brown of Waynesburg; two brothers, Phillip (and Lora) Walker of Burnside and Jay (and Marilla) Walker of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters, Teresa (and Tim) Purdue of Denver, Colo., Sara Burgess of Richmond and Sandy (and John) Powers of London; two grandchildren, Haylee and Taylor; several nieces and nephews, Nathan and Audrey Purdue, Clint (and Rachel) Burgess and their children, Nora and Eli, Laura Burgess, Erin (and Tyler) Mullins and their son, Griffin, Elliott Dick, Sara Rose Walker, Ava, Jack and Frederick Powers, Iris and Charlotte Walker, Michelle and Emmi Lawler; Aftan and Lilly Dodson; and special family members, Leon, Kathy, Melissa and Drew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Baston Walker; a brother-in-law, Steve Burgess; a son-in-law, Scotty Brown; maternal grandparents, Marvin and Katherine May; and paternal grandparents, Lester and Flossie Walker.
Charlie’s Celebration of Life service was held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Shepherd officiating.
