Ernest Hopkins, 86, of Crab Orchard, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
He was born on July 19, 1930, to the late William “Bill” and Rosie (Brock) Hopkins in Harlan, KY. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Crab Orchard Baptist Church. He also enjoyed horses and mules.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Anna Mae Hopkins; children, Dwight B. (Kim) Hopkins and Kevin (Connie) Hopkins both of Waynesburg, Barry K. (Norma) Hopkins, Mac W. Hopkins, Randall (Billy Jo) Hopkins, Dennis W. (Rena) Hopkins and Mark A. (Susan) Hopkins all of Crab Orchard and Jayme E. Hopkins of Danville; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Turner of Crab Orchard; as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Marvin L. Hopkins; brothers, John, Robert “June”, Zach, Henry and Jessie Hopkins; sisters, Marlie and Pearlie; and grandson, Samuel Hopkins.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 1 at Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals in Brodhead. Burial was in Crab Orchard Cemetery with miliary rites.
