WILLIAMSBURG – Eric Bowen of Stanford, a member of the University of the Cumberlands Chamber Choir, was one of the performers during the UC Music Department’s 50th Annual Madrigal Dinners.
The Madrigal Dinners, a celebration of the holiday season, were held December 1-3 in the T.J. Roberts Dining Hall.
The Madrigal Dinners first began in the 1960s, introduced to the university by Dr. Harold Wortman, the former department chair.
Each evening the Madrigal Singers, dressed in Elizabethan-era attire, performed an assortment of Christmas selections that were tied together by a script written by the students.
Traditionally, alumni are invited to sing “White Christmas” with the singers near the end of each evening’s performance. This year, to celebrate the 50th anniversary, alumni were invited to sing several carols with the Madrigal Singers.
