Obituary: Phyllis Wood Young, 87

Phyllis Wood Young, 87 of Stanford, passed away Saturday, October 22, at the Golden Living Center.
Born in Stanford on April 10, 1929, Phyllis was a daughter of the late James E. and Allie (Gourley) Young. She worked as a seamstress for 24 years for Palm Beach, was a lifetime member of the Highland Methodist Church and an avid UK fan.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by twin daughters, Julia Ann and Janice Lynn; brothers, Jim and Glen Young; and sisters, Elizabeth “Wibbie” Denham, Wilma Denham and Helen Croft.
Survivors include son, Bill Wood and wife Mary Jo; daughters, Sherryl Siler, Regina and husband Jeff Henderson, Diane and husband Mike Henderson and Arlene and husband Joel Bennett; two brothers, Beverly Young and wife Iva and Gary Lynn Young and wife Geraldine; two sisters, Faye Reed and Eunice Wood; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Steven and Matthew Wood, Chris Siler, Jason Henderson, Troy Burton and Chris Goatee. Honorary pallbearers were Sgt. Brandon Browning and Donnie Siler.
Funeral services were Tuesday, October 25, at Highland Methodist Church with Bro. Brad King and Bro. Quentin Scholtz officiating. Burial was in the Highland Methodist Church Cemetery.
McKnight Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
