STANFORD – A portion of Ky. Hwy. 698 was closed for over six hours Monday morning after a tractor trailer overturned.
A tractor trailer operated by Republic was traveling northeast on Hwy. 698 toward U.S. Hwy. 27 when it left the roadway and overturned, according to Lincoln County Fire Chief Eric Davidson.
Davidson said it was unclear what exactly caused the vehicle to leave the road.
Lincoln County first responders were called to the scene at about 8:30 a.m. Monday morning.
There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
The driver was taken to Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford as a precaution but no injuries were reported.
Davidson said the semi was hauling leachate waste water.
“A very small amount leaked out and was cleaned up by Pecco,” he said.
The highway was closed from Skyline Drive to Spice Ridge for over six hours as Pecco, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, worked to clean up the mess.
