Crab Orchard woman celebrates 100th birthday

Clara Wyler Boyle of Crab Orchard celebrated her 100th birthday at the Back Porch Clubhouse at Dix River Golf Course on Sunday, July 28. The venue was packed with Boyle’s friends and family, who wanted to celebrate the occasion with her.
“I never thought about making it to 100, to tell you the truth,” Boyle said. “It feels good. I’ve seen it all.”
Boyle said in her 100 years she learned the value of hard work and being kind.
“Hard work won’t hurt you. I have had three jobs my entire life,” Boyle said. “Live the best you can, treat your fellow man right.”
In her 100 years, she has impacted numerous people. Angela Bryant, owner of the Back Horse Clubhouse, remembers the businesses Boyle has owned.
“I have known her my whole life,” Bryant said. She owned a grocery store in Crab Orchard. My grandmother always shopped there. I grew up across the street from her. It was an honor to host her party here.”
