Donnie C. Rains, 40, of Williamsburg was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:05 a.m. on April 22.

Rains was operating a Harley Davidson, traveling westbound on U.S. 150 when it collided head-on with a small SUV that was traveling eastbound.

Marcum said the accident occurred on U.S. 150 near Horton Cut Off. It is unclear why the two vehicles collided, he said.

The driver of the SUV was taken to the local hospital for minor injuries.

The road was closed for several hours Saturday morning as Kentucky State Police performed an accident reconstruction.

Marcum said Rains was wearing a helmet and, according to family members, was traveling to Louisville for work.

No drugs or alcohol are suspected to be a contributing factor, Marcum said. Toxicology tests will be conducted as part of the accident investigation.

Kentucky State Police are overseeing the investigation.
