Pauline Godbey Watts, of Stanford, passed away unexpectedly at her home, Thursday, April 13, 2023. She was 75 years of age. Born at her aunt’s home in Stanford on Monday, September 1, 1947, she was the oldest daughter of the late Russell Godbey, Sr. and Lena Wall Godbey. Faith and family were the central themes of Pauline’s life. She was a charter member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church and was at church every time the doors were open and many times when they were not. Pauline was a member of the church choir, Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary, Heritage Hospice volunteer, former church secretary, Sunday School teacher and church clerk. She retired from Lincoln County High School special education teacher’s assistant. She could be described as a true Proverbs 31 woman. Kind, compassionate, sincere, patient with a servant’s heart; to know Pauline was to love her. She played a mean card game, would snuggle any baby she could get her hands on, family or not; enjoyed reading, Sudoku puzzles, traveling, and going out to eat. Survivors include one son, David (and Tonya) Watts of Stanford, one daughter, Rhonda (and Paul) Shelton of Crab Orchard; three granddaughters, Jessica (and Aaron) Cain of Russell Springs, Jaden Shelton (Ryan Miller) of Stanford, and Bailey Shelton of Crab Orchard; and three great-granddaughters who were her world, Hazel Grace Cain, Harper Mae Cain, and Emery Joy Hicks. She is also survived by one sister, Velma Cordier of Stanford; one brother, Russell (and Janetta) Godbey, Jr. of Lancaster; and one half-sister, Carolyn (and Larry) Reed of Crab Orchard. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William David Watts, who passed away August 28, 2014; one granddaughter, Isabella Celeste Shelton; and one special nephew, Robby Brown. Funeral services are 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Calvary Hill Baptist Church, with Brother Matt Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, and from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday, at Calvary Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers are the deacons of Calvary Hill Baptist Church, Louis Bailey, John Kolasa, Bob Jeffries, Jerry Pyle, Hoover Godbey, Billy Moberly, and Shane Peck; Danny Renner and Shannon Catron. Honorary pallbearers are the Calvary Hill Baptist Church Senior Adult Women Sunday School Class. The family requests that donations of sympathy be made to the Calvary Hill Baptist Church Elevator Fund, P.O. Box 482, Stanford, KY 40484. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Fox and Friend Funeral Home. Guest Book at www.friendfuneralhomes.com.
