Investigation under way in incident at Cedar Creek Lake

The Lincoln County Coroner and Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating the death of Richmond resident and Lincoln native Corey Denson whose body was recovered last week from Cedar Creek Lake near Crab Orchard.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to interview individuals regarding the case. A completed autopsy and toxicology report are estimated to be available in about three weeks, according to the coroner’s office. Lincoln County Coroner Farris Marcum did not comment on whether he suspects foul play.

Emergency services were first called to Cedar Creek Lake at 12:26 p.m. on March 30, with reports of a male falling into the water. Denson’s body was recovered less than five hours later, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.    

The search was led by the Lincoln County Coroner with the assistance of Lincoln County Emergency Management, Lincoln County EMS, Lincoln County Fire Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, Lincoln County Constable, Stanford Police Department, Stanford Fire Department, Crab Orchard Police, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Fish & Wildlife and Boyle County Fire Department.
