Each quarter of the competition, teachers submit the number of minutes their students read that week for their conference. Third grade’s conference is called the Big 3, and in this conference, third grade classes go head-to-head with other third grade classes around the United States.

Crab Orchard Elementary placed 3rd in the Big 3 Conference during the second quarter. They are also the only school in Kentucky that has placed in the top 25 teams for each conference since the competition began.
