NEWS RELEASE

Pam Baughman ’93, a longtime Centre Admission staff member, parent and alumna, has been named vice president for student success.

The newly created role in the College president’s office grew out of campus-wide strategic planning efforts, which identified student success as a priority for immediate action. Reporting to President Milton C. Moreland and serving as a member of the senior team, the vice president for student success will collaborate with campus partners to analyze data and assist in structuring interventions to bolster student success and retention. This will include the launch of summer co-curricular programs that focus on adjustment to college and skills-building, along with ongoing work with the College’s Posse Scholars.

“While Centre has long had a small staffing model, it is vitally important that we invest in taking action in priority areas,” said Moreland. “I’m deeply grateful to Pam for taking on this new role. Her leadership and long service at Centre make her uniquely knowledgeable to help develop programs and initiatives to support student success.”

Baughman joined Centre’s staff in 1993, shortly after graduating from the College with a B.S. in psychology. During Baughman’s career in admission, she has held leadership roles with the National Association for College Admission Counseling and the Kentucky Association for College Admission Counseling, and she has been an active member of the Centre College Alumni Board, Parents Council and other campus committees.

Baughman considers herself fortunate to have such deep and long experience at Centre.

“Nurturing student success is at the heart of what we do, and I am excited to contribute to strategic initiatives that support all students. One of my greatest professional and personal endeavors has been mentoring students through the Posse Scholars Program,” she said. “It is that type of mentored, intentional assistance that many students need to flourish. It will be an honor to work with our talented faculty, students, staff and alumni to ensure all students receive the support they need, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Baughman begins her appointment in June 2023.
