Free Christmas concert Monday in Danville

The Sounding Joy Women’s Choir and Resonance Men’s Choir will present a free concert, “Songs of the Season,” on Monday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Danville.

Audiences will hear some familiar carols, “Adeste Fideles” (O come, all ye faithful), “In the Bleak Midwinter” and “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.” In addition, the choirs will sing pieces from a 13th century Spanish convent, a cathedral in Rome, an English banquet, a chorus from Handel’s Messiah, and a new composition on words of wisdom from Native American culture.

The singers will be joined by harp, piano, organ and percussion instruments.  Soloists include two doctors, two Centre College graduate assistants, a professor of anthropology at EKU, and an audiologist from Kentucky School for the Deaf and others.

Audience members will be invited to join them for two well-known Christmas songs. This concert is Sounding Joy choir’s 17th December concert, and is Resonance choir’s 7th December concert.

New members are welcome to attend the first rehearsal of the upcoming season. Resonance will start Jan. 9, 2023, and Sounding Joy will start Jan 11.
