Evelyn “Peggy” Ann VanHook Godbey, 88, of Stanford, KY passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Ft. Logan Hospital. Born on November 1, 1934 in Saylor Park, OH to the late Millard and Ellen Leffew VanHook. She was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Hoover Godbey; three sons, Herbert A. Godbey (Yolanda) of Crestview, FL, Jefferey L., Godbey (Sharon) of Waynesburg and Richard I. Godbey (April) of Stanford; Two daughters, Rebecca Godbey Thacker (Sim) and April Godbey; nine grandchildren, Ava, Chad, Kirk, Chris, Heather, Josh, Kameron, Jacob, Brittney and Samuel; eleven great-grandchildren, Dagan, Janssen, Reese, Sierra, Oniel, Kayden, Emma, Maddie, Triston, Noah and Scarlett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Ellen VanHook; one daughter, Mary Godbey Glass; two brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Matt Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Crab Orchard, KY.
