“The work done here is so important,’ said Beshear. “This center provides over 500 meals each month to seniors. We wanted to recognize and further invest in an amazing senior center. They served meals throughout the pandemic and made sure nobody went hungry and we want them to continue that in the future. We are committed to this community.”

Renovations will include expansion of the kitchen space, installation of commercial grade appliances, a covered drive through and improved handicap accessibility.

“The funding announced today from Governor Beshear will allow us to better serve the aging population in Lincoln County,” said Executive Director of the Senior Center Miranda Perkins. “Our agency serves thousands of on site and home delivered meals each month across Lincoln County. That demand has drastically increased with the pandemic; in which our services never ceased. We take great pride in serving our community. This commercial kitchen and commodities expansion will help us better serve those, who rely on our vital programs.”

A total of 200 feet of sidewalk on the west side and 500 feet on the east side of Whitley Avenue will be replaced.

“There are quite a few senior residents along that road,” said Beshear. “The sidewalks need to be in good shape and safe for those residents.”

“He is investing in all walks of life in Lincoln County,” said Stanford Mayor Dalton Miller. “They are doing the right thing by reinvesting in the big and small communities in the state.”
