Perkins named Lincoln’s DYW of 2023

Chloe Perkins was named Lincoln County’s Distinguished Young Woman for 2023 during the group’s annual event Saturday.
The daughter of Miranda and Jon Perkins, she is a senior at Lincoln County High School.
The Distinguished Young Women of Lincoln County is part of a national scholarship program that recognizes and rewards leadership, academic success and talent. The program includes 13 high school seniors who compete in the categories of interview, scholastics, talent, self-expression and fitness.
As the winner, Perkins was presented with a $4,800 scholarship award as well as several other scholarship awards that totaled an additional $1,850.
Perkins intends to attend the University of Kentucky next year, where she plans to major in pharmacy.
In the competition, interview and scholastics both comprise 25% of the total score, talent is 20%, and self-expression and fitness are 15% each.
