James Albert Cummins, 99, of Waynesburg, KY passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Stanford Care and Rehabilitation. Born on June 3, 1922 in Perryville, KY to the late James Albert and Paralee Hill Cummins. James worked at Sellers Manufacturing in Danville, where he built boilers. He later went to work for American Greeting’s in Danville as a Maintenance Mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Dovie Sowder Cummins of Waynesburg; three nephews, Paul Barrick (Bonnie) of Lawrenceburg, KY; Hoppy Wilson of Lexington, KY; Scott Wilson (Peggy) of Lexington, KY; two nieces, Dianne Keefe (Mike) of Jeffersonville, IN and Elaine Jandis (Bob) of Lawrenceburg; two step-sons, Rodney Joe Doss (Pam) of Stanford and Harvey Dale Doss (Jackie) of Stanford; grandchildren, Tamara Southerland, Jamie Doss, Teresa Singleton, Greg Doss and Kim Holton; six great-grandchildren, Sarah Singleton, Luke Singleton, Kimber Holton, Allissa Doss, Hunter Doss and Brayden Doss; one great-great-granddaughter, Riley.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Albert and Paralee Cummins; five sisters, Alberta Cummins (infant child), Elizabeth Barrick, Martha Wilson, Rena Cummins and Gladys Cummins.
A one-day service has been scheduled for Monday, April 11, 2022 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Visitation will be form 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Paul Barrick officiating. Burial will follow at Perryville Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers are Todd Barrick, Darin Holton, Marc Keefe, Hoppy Wilson, Scott Wilson, Matt Singleton and Greg Doss. Honorary Pallbearers are Harvey Doss, Rodney Doss, Bob Jandis and Mike Keefe.
