Anne Nita Rankin, 90, of Stanford, KY passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 20, 2022. Born on September 11, 1931 in Waynesburg, Ky to the late Oris and Mayme Singleton. She married the late Lindsey Rankin, Jr. on May 8, 1954, who passed away on May 26, 2007.
She was a member of Stanford Baptist Church where she taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday School, played the piano, sang in the choir, and was a charter member of the handbell choir. She was retired from Fort Logan Hospital where she served as Chief Financial Officer.
She is survived by her children; Eva Rankin of Stanford, Robert Rankin (Sue) of Winchester and Linda Smith (Alan) of Lexington; six grandchildren, Ryan Swingley, Kristina Perry (John), Lindsey (Daniel), Joseph Rankin (Brenna), Cullen Smith and Syndey Smith; four great-grandchildren, Owen Perry, Walter Perry, Luke Banks and Rankin Banks; three brothers, Blaine Singleton (Jo) of Louisville, Jim Singleton (Jean) of Lexington, Dwight Singleton (Betty) of Danville; sisters, Joyce Wall of Waynesburg, Sharon New (David) of Waynesburg, Evonna McGuffey (Ranny) of Highland, Shirley Free of Louisville and Karen Caudill (Darrell) of South Pittsburg, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Rankin, grandsons, Christopher Rankin and Tyler Rankin; brother, Bryn Singleton and sister Ardith Schwuchow.
Visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. with Bro. Max Hester officiating.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY. The funeral procession will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford.
Active Pallbearers will be John Perry, Daniel Banks, Cullen Smith, Joe Rankin, Cody Rankin, Ryan Swingly. Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Baird, Linda Baird, Patricia Smith, Rosa Bertram and Wanda Hawley.
The family wishes to acknowledge the care and support of Heritage hospice, Jim and Linda Baird, Patricia Smith, Rose Bertram and a special caregiver, Wanda Hawley.
