Lenora McCurry Mink Carter

1926-2021

Lenora McCurry Mink Carter, a born-again Christian, age 95, of Stanford, Kentucky, died Friday, July 16, 2021, at her home. Born Tuesday, May 11, 1926, in the Parlor Grove area of Lincoln County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Powell Jennings McCurry & Bessie Lou Sanders McCurry. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Haldron, Roscoe, and Harold McCurry; two husbands, Jesse M. Mink & the Reverend Dr. John M. Carter; and one sister, Christine Jackson.

Lenora is survived by four step-children, June Braden (Jim) of California, Dr. John Mark Carter (Cindy) of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Jill McLeskey and Jinny Carter both of St. Petersburg, Florida; several step-grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Lenora was an active member of Grace Fellowship Church, Stanford. She was instrumental, along with the late Dr. Carter, in organizing and building Calvary Hill Baptist Church, Stanford, as well as establishing Sugarloaf Baptist Church on Sugarloaf Key, Florida.

She was also a 1944 graduate of Waynesburg High School, attended Eastern Kentucky University, was a farmer, previous owner of the Golden Gate Motel, and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Cremation Rites honored. A Public Graveside Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the shelter at Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford. Bro. Vola Brown & Dr. Mike James will officiate the service.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jonathan McCurry, Christopher McCurry, Lauren McLeskey, Max Miracle, Barry Braden, Brian Braden, and Brad Braden.
