MCKINNEY – Several storage units in McKinney were broken into during the early morning hours on June 29, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Detective Rob Oney said a total of nine separate units at Grogan Self Storage located on Depot Street in McKinney were broken into and a variety of items were stolen ranging from a Harley Davidson motorcycle to tree climbing gear.
The robbery most likely happened between 2 and 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, Oney said.
“The crazy thing about it is the big haul was the units closest to the main road,” he said.
Oney said he is currently working on retrieving video surveillance from the scene.
“I collected some locks that were on scene,” he said. “They didn’t cut the locks on some of them, they just busted the slides on them.”
The suspect/s picked up and carried a lock into one of the storage units, Oney said, so that lock was collected for fingerprint evidence.
“I collected that and will send that to Frankfort and wait on the results for that,” he said.
The storage units are owned by Todd Grogan, Oney said.
“Their storage unit actually got broken into, too. I don’t think anything was taken out of theirs because most of their stuff was real heavy stuff,” he said.
The suspect/s cut the locks on the main gate to gain access to the individual storage units.
“It’s a fenced-in unit with like a cattle gate that blocks the main entrance,” Oney said.
