Opal Robertson

1947-2021

Opal Robertson, 73, of Stanford, KY passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021 at UK Hospital in Lexington, KY. Born on September 15, 1947 in Stanford, KY to the late John and Dora Belle Robinson. She was a seamstress at Palm Beach for 18 years and a member of Victory Christian Church in Lancaster, KY.

She enjoyed playing bingo and participating in AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary. Opal dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren, to them, she was known as Nanny Opal. She had a special place in her heart for children.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years and nine months, Bill Robertson of Stanford, KY; daughter, Shelly York Alford (Heath) of Burgin, KY; granddaughter, Samantha Mullins of Stanford, KY; Goddaughters, Hilary Bramble of Stanford, KY and Lori Stevens of Bridgton, ME; two brothers, George Robinson (Verna) of Stanford, KY and Jimmy Robinson of Versailles, KY; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Alford and Mya Alford; a special great-grandson, Aidan Robertson; five God grandchildren, four God great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jake Robertson two sisters, Mary Ann Trailor and Freida Jones; two brothers, Mitchell Robinson and Johnny Robinson.

Visitation has been scheduled for Monday, June 28, 2021 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY with Bro. David Gambrel and Bro. Vola Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY.

Active pallbearers are David Bird, Jason Bird, Doug Bird, Tim Robertson, Jeffrey Alford and Johnny Mack Trailor. Honorary Pallbearers are the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary.

Opal will be escorted by AMVETS Riders, Patriot Guard Riders and other motorcycle riders to Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
