Maudie Napier Richie, 76, of Stanford, KY passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 peacefully at home. Whether you called her Maudie, Mom, or Granny, she was no doubt special to you.

She lived her life to the fullest. Her family and friends were deeply important to her, and she always made sure they knew it. You always felt an abundance of warmth, kindness, generosity, unconditional love, and pure fun when you were with her.

Maudie had an unforgettable smile that lit up the room. She loved nothing more than an adventure. She loved to travel and was always ready to go.

On June 6, she made her final trip, joining her loved ones who’ve gone before her in heaven. She spent her final hours surrounded by her family and friends. Maudie passed peacefully in her home, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, a legacy of love and kindness, incredible stories, and a few epic tall tales that many of us will carry and share forever.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Harmon (Danny) of Stanford, KY; Patricia Dawson (Stewart) of Lexington, KY; and Rebecca Brogle of Stanford, KY; one sister, Chloe Benton of Hustonville, KY; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her first husband, Pinas Sergent and second husband, Russell Richie, Jr., parents, Taylor and Polly Napier, one daughter, Diane Sergent; five brothers and 4 sisters.

Visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. A private family burial will be held at Sergent Family Cemetery in Lee County, KY at a later date.
