Lincoln County Fiscal Court announced Tuesday that trick-or-treat will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m.

All participants should follow The Centers for Disease Control guidelines for masks and social distancing, and the court suggests going door to door only in family units.

Stores and churches are encouraged to participate and provide safe distribution of treats, and residents are asked to only hand out wrapped treats.

Those who wish to not participate should turn off lights or post signage.

Lincoln County Judge-Executive Jim Adams said using common sense is the way to go.

“Really, we’re still in the orange (zone). If we had been red, we probably would have canceled altogether,” Adams said. “We’re pretty much going by the governor’s guidelines and asking people to use masks and social distance, and only trick-or-treat in family groups, which normally is the way people do it anyway.”

Stanford City Clerk Joan Allen said the city is following the same guidelines as the county.

“There won’t be any city-sponsored activities at all,” she said.
