For the second week in a row, Lincoln County has faced a team from Laurel County. And for the second week in a row, the Patriots put 50 points on the board in a win.

The Pats traveled to South Laurel (0-2) Friday night and ran all over the Cardinals, racking up nearly 400 rushing yards on the night. Two Patriots, Lee Amon and Clayton Davis, led the way. Amon carried the ball seven times for 172 yards and three touchdowns, and David had 10 carries for 144 yards and a pair of scores. Rodney Alcorn, Thaeden Garr and Dalton Board added 30, 25 and nine yards respectively.

On the defensive side, Lincoln forced two fumbles on the night, with Skyler Quinn recovering one and taking it 57 yards for a touchdown. Benjamin Harris had the other recovery for the Patriots. Robert Bowman and Clayton Davis were each credited with a forced fumble on the two South Laurel miscues.

Bowman and Cody Miracle each led the defensive effort with eight tackles, followed by Seth Horton with six, Clayton Davis with five, and Lee Amon and Eli Hurt with four each.

Head coach Spencer Crutchfield said his team was focused and ready to play Friday.

“We were able to come out focused and executing on both sides of the ball early,” he said. “We have playmakers that were able to get free on Friday and get into open space. As skilled as Lee and Clayton are, they will be the first to tell you the O line and wide receivers are springing them for big plays.”

Crutchfield said his team has a lot of room for growth, and they will work to clean up their mistakes and execute properly going forward.

“Overall I am happy for our guys and the success we are having so far. The message will be let’s continue to grow and get better every day,” he said. “The challenge with a young team is how do we handle the success. Will we get complacent or will we let it drive us to be great? Only time will tell but I am excited to see where we go.”

The Patriots will host Anderson County (0-2) Friday at 7:30 p.m.
