A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy has tested positive for COVID-19 but is not suffering from any symptoms, according to Sheriff Curt Folger.

Folger said all other deputies have since been tested and all of those tests came back negative, but, out of precaution, they are all self-quarantining at home.

Monday last week four deputies were tested for COVID-19, Folger said, but a meeting was held the following Tuesday prior to the positive test result being returned. The deputy’s positive test result came back on Wednesday.

“Four of us tested Monday. Had a meeting Tuesday. Wednesday it came back that he’s tested positive,” Folger said. “So I had all the other guys go test that had been to that meeting. All of them tested negative but they still wanted us to be quarantined for seven to 10 days, really 10 days.”

Despite all of the deputies having to self-quarantine at home, Folger said there’s been no loss of police coverage across the county, thanks to multiple agencies pitching in to help.

“Some special deputies that hadn’t been around and tested negative, they’ve been out,” he said.

Folger said Stanford Police, Kentucky State Police, Hustonville Police have all been helping to take calls.

“I’ve gotten Pulaski County, Casey County, Boyle County and Garrard County to help with calls if needed,” he said. “So we have not actually lost any coverage in our county.”

The quarantine for the seven certified deputies started Wednesday last week and should end Friday or Saturday this week, he said.

Folger said the sheriff’s office was heavily disinfected and cleaned.
