STANFORD – The Lincoln County Health Department has reported another positive case of the novel coronavirus in Lincoln County, bringing the county’s total to five cases since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The most recent positive confirmed case of COVID-19 in Lincoln County was reported on April 30.
LCHD Director Diane Miller said the individual is a 32-year-old male.
“The individual is doing fine,” Miller said Tuesday this week. LCHD continues to monitor positive cases by identifying and contacting all those who may have come into contact with positive cases to ensure the safety of the county.
The 32-year-old is recovering at home and self-quarantining, Miller said. The self-quarantine started on April 24.
The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus, she said.
Thanks to Mary Hostetler and others in the local Amish community, the LCHD has some cloth masks to hand out to the general public.
“The ladies made cloth face masks for us to distribute to the public and we’re so grateful that they did that for us,” Miller said. “They made us 150 cloth masks to distribute to the public and we so appreciate that.”
Masks are going to be important moving forward as Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear prepares to reopen the state in phases, beginning May 11.
Miller said there were about 15 masks left to hand out as of Tuesday this week.
“I was thrilled because I was getting lots of phone calls about how to acquire a mask,” she said.
While the state will begin reopening in phases, Miller is still encouraging the public to continue to adhere to the CDC’s guidelines of social distancing and proper hygiene.
“It’s not only to protect your own safety, but everybody’s safety in the county,” she said. “We want to make sure we abide by those social distancing guidelines and continue to do what we’re doing in order to help combat this coronavirus.”
