STANFORD, Ky. – Due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), all in-person classes for Lincoln County students have been cancelled until May, but the district will still be providing meals to students during this time.

For weeks now, the Food Service Department has been preparing and delivering thousands of meals throughout the county on a daily basis. But, in an effort to minimize COVID-19 exposure to the staff and community, that meal distribution plan has been revised.

Beginning April 13, the department will now be delivering meals three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Monday meals will include extra food for Tuesday and Wednesday meals will include extra food for Thursday, according to Communications Director Brad Smith.

Each lunch will include a breakfast bar for the following morning.

“The meals will be free to all students and will be prepared at the kitchen at the Student Support Center and packaged in brown bags by certified nutritional staff to ensure food safety,” according to a press release from the school district.

New delivery locations have also been added to the revised plan.

“It is preferred that you reserve a meal to be picked up (for planning purposes) but you can also just show up to pick up a meal,” the release states.

To reserve a meal, contact the Food Service Department at one the following phone numbers: 606-365-2124; 606-365-5778; or 606-669-1856.
