STANFORD — Lincoln County firefighters have been busy over the last month, according to Fire Chief Danny Glass.

Glass provided details of some of the recent fires in Lincoln County, adding that none of them seem to be related.

In the past month-or-so, firefighters have responded to a house fire in McKinney, a chimney fire in Broughtontown, a structure fire in Geneva and a barn fire near the Pulaski County line.

While most of the fires did not do large amounts of damage, Glass said one structure fire in Geneva resulted in a total loss.

“We were actually there a day or two before and we were told to disregard (because) they said their stove had overheated,” Glass said. “Then a day or two later, it was called in as an electrical fire and it appears that’s what it was.”

The structure was aged, Glass said.

“From our indications, the smoke and stuff coming out from around the electrical outlets and stuff of that nature,” he said.

Firefighters also responded to a large barn fire on Ky. 39 near the Lincoln-Pulaski County line. The barn was full of hay, according to Glass.

“I think that was the night of the storm where we had lightning and stuff,” he added.

None of the fires resulted in any injuries, he said.
