Veterans to be honored at multiple events

Veterans Day will be observed both locally and regionally as America honors and celebrates its veterans.

Lincoln County schools continue with their annual Veterans Day Programs, starting with early events on Friday, Nov. 8.

Lincoln County High School will host a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Friday, followed by a program at 9:15 a.m. Observances move to the elementary schools in the afternoon. Highland Elementary School will host a program at 1 p.m. while Stanford Elementary School and Waynesburg Elementary School will hold programs at 1:30 p.m.

On Monday, Nov. 11, activities get underway early as Hustonville Elementary hosts the veterans at 8:10 a.m.

Lincoln County Middle School and Crab Orchard Elementary will also have programs on Veterans day, with both events scheduled for a 9 a.m. start.will be welcoming veterans in for a 9 a.m. program.

Heritage Hospice will be honoring veterans from Lincoln, Boyle, Garrard and Mercer Counties on Monday, Nov. 11, by serving them lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Danville.

Also getting underway at 11 a.m. Monday is the annual Camp Nelson National Cemetery Veterans Day Program held around the cemetery flag pole.

The guest speaker for the event is Dr. Peter Trzop, Area “B” Commander, American Legion.

Cemetery staff will be on hand to help with grave locations.
