Costumed kids, adults fill downtown Stanford for annual Halloween on Main

Visitors were treated to free candy, food and play time on the many inflatables set up along Main.

STANFORD — Even with a forecast of rain for Halloween tonight, there still may be droves of people trick-or-treating in Lincoln County tonight. They just won’t be on Stanford’s Main Street.
While Halloween on Main coordinator Justin Carter had a backup venue already set up for the event in case of rain, it was decided to move the event ahead two days to Tuesday when warmer and drier weather was forecasted.
The schedule change did not seem to hurt the crowd. In fact, it appeared that the date change may have resulted in even more visitors, as the length of Main Street was filled with costumed guests for the annual trick-or-treating event.
Each year costumed children and adults turn out for the Halloween celebration and over 1,000 children, along with their parents and grandparents, made their rounds gathering candy, grabbing a hot dog or a bowl of chili, or playing on the many inflatables set up in the Lincoln County Courthouse and Stanford Christian Church blocks during the two-hour event.
Thirty-two different businesses, organizations and individuals participated in this year’s event, handing out candy or food at their decorated booths. Included among those businesses or organizations were New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Pleasant View Baptist Church, Lincoln County Gideons, Stanford Christian Church, Freedom Baptist Church, Green River Pentecostal Church, Calvary Hill Baptist Church, The Gathering Place, The Interior Journal, First Southern National Bank, City of Stanford, Kentucky Career Center: Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Fort Logan Hospital, McDonald’s, Uneeda House Realty, LLC, Precision Chiropractic & Atomic Gym, PBK Bank, Lincoln County Schools, Tuffy’s Spay and Neuter Clinic, Blush n Blooms Florist, Fox & Friend Funeral Home, Just Family Adult Day Health Care, Stephanie Atkins, FCA and Kevin Coots, Color Me Crazy Salon, DecoArt, 4-H Livestock Club, Integrity Contracting and Supply, Michelle Mullins, Christy Scott, Bates, Miller & Sims and Autumn Mullins.
Stanford will still be holding city-wide trick-or-treating tonight from 5 to 8 p.m.
