What does it mean to be a retired teacher? The answers are as varied as the individuals making up this segment of the population.

Kentucky Retired Teachers Association (KRTA) was established in 1937 and is composed of 30,800+ members. It is the only organization with the sole purpose of the welfare of its members, and to recognize its efforts the week of Oct. 21-25 has been declared the 8th Annual Kentucky Retired Teachers Week.

Retired teachers give back to their community. They contribute thousands of dollars in volunteer service to their schools, communities, and civic and religious groups. Lincoln County Retired Teachers are part of this by donating food to Fort Logan Ministries, school supplies to school resource centers, and items for the food backpack program.

Retired teachers continue to render valuable services in diverse leadership roles in their communities. They represent a tremendous pool of experience and training which remains dedicated to the betterment of society everywhere. These individuals represent a loyal, patriotic, and concerned citizenry, who provide dedicated and dependable support to the leaders of our communities, state, and nation.

As you meet retired teachers throughout the week, recognize their efforts by giving them a thank you.
