Edward J. Slabaugh, 81 years, 2 months, 24 days, died peacefully at 9:02 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2019 at home in Hustonville, Kentucky.

Born June 23, 1938 at Milford, Indiana, Ed was a son of the late Jerry and Iva (Schmucker) Slabaugh. On Nov. 10, 1960, he married Mary A. Bontrager. He was a member of the New Order Amish in Hustonville.

Ed is survived by six sons and seven daughters, Mrs. Edna Slabaugh of Worthington, Indiana, Joseph and Eunice Slabaugh of Millersburg, Ohio, Ervin and Martha Slabaugh of Sugarcreek, Ohio, Sarah and Ben Swarey of McVeytown, Pennsylvania, Esther and Steve Garber of Richmond, Missouri, Ida Mae and James Lehman of Stanford, Kentucky, Erma and Joel Yoder of Noxon, Montana, Bertha and Mark Garber of Heron, Montana, Stephen and Velma Slabaugh of Scottville, Michigan, David Slabaugh of Massillon, Ohio, Paul and Anna Mary Slabaugh of Hartville, Ohio, Timothy and Becki Slabaugh of Bethel, Pennsylvania, Miriam and Robert Graber of Salem, Indiana, Wilma and Jonathon Hochstetler of Bloomfield, Indiana; 65 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert and Inez, and Glen; four sisters, Edna and Emil Helmuth, Ruby and Leonard Miller, Martha and Sarah.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ed was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Allen Slabaugh; four grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Jr. and Melvin; and three sisters, Betty Miller, Mary Hochstetler and Clara Miller.

Visitation was held Wednesday, September 18. Funeral services are at 9 a.m. today (Thursday, September 19) at the Hustonville Amish Community Building.
