James Ray “Jimmy” Cooper, 80, of the Moreland area in Lincoln County passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019.

Born May 7, 1939, in Stanford, he was the son of the late Matt and Mae Miller Cooper. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Reeves Cooper. His life’s work included being a farmer, working at PBK Bank as a courier, and serving on the Lincoln County Board of Education. Jimmy served as an elder of Hustonville Christian Church and was a member of Christian Men’s Fellowship.

He is survived by his three sons, James David (Norene) Cooper of Danville, Jeffrey Scott (Annette) Cooper of Danville, and Mark Christopher Cooper of Louisville; three grandchildren, Austin David Cooper (and fiancee, Shelbey Meece), Kylie Drew Cooper, and Madison Paige Cooper.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bryan and Richard Cooper; and three sisters, Virginia Schroader, Margaret Dunn, and Dorothy Bishop.

Funeral services were Wednesday, September 11 at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland. Burial was in Hustonville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were David, Jeffrey, Mark, Austin, Kylie and Madison Cooper, Tony Honaker, and Stanley Burris. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Denny Johnson, Robert “Nitz” Bishop, Carol Taylor, and the staffs of McDowell Place and Morning Pointe.
