Logan’s Fort Siege set for this weekend

Experience living history this weekend in Stanford during the fourth annual Logan’s Fort Siege of 1777 Reenactment.

Tonight (Thursday) through Sunday there will be ongoing events, including living history demonstrations, a Native American encampment, a settler’s encampment, Sutler’s Village, food vendors and children’s activities taking place around the Fort, located at the end of Martin Luther King Street in Stanford.

There will also be a special display featuring William Whitley’s rifle and powder horn.

Activities get underway away from the Fort, with the annual T.J. Hill IV History Walk set for tonight at 6 p.m. The walk begins at City Hall at 305 East Main Street and ends at Logan’s Fort with several stops at historical sites along the way.

The history walk is free. Rain cancels.

Admission is $5 for the Friday and Saturday events at Logan’s Fort. Children 12 and under will be admitted for free. All proceeds fund future events at the Fort.

Thursday, May 16

T. J. Hill IV History Walk – 6 p.m. Meet at Stanford City Hall at 305 East Main Street. Rain cancels.

Friday, May 17
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Lincoln County Middle School Groups.

PARK OPENS TO THE PUBLIC AT 6 P.M.

8 p.m. – Special dusk battle.

Saturday, May 18

10:30 a.m. – “Women in American Indian Society” by Tressa Brown. Held at tent at Fort.

11:30 a.m. – “Betty Harper: Frontier Midwife” by Emily Burns. Held at tent at Fort.

12:30 p.m. – “The Life of Esther Whitley” by Stacy Thomason. Held at tent at Fort.

1:30 p.m. – Reenactor’s group photo followed by pre-reenactment weapons inspection.

2 p.m. – Reenactment of the Siege of 1777.

6:30 p.m. – Live auction. Public is welcome.

Sunday, May 19

10:30 a.m. – 18th century church service by Don Drewry.
