The Lincoln County High School tennis teams had a rough go on the courts this past week, dropping back-to-back matches with Wayne County and East Jessamine.

The Lady Patriot netters had little luck at home or on the road, falling 8-1 at Wayne County Monday after dropping a home match 4-1 to visiting East Jessamine.

The Patriots played only one full match and that was at Wayne County where they also fell 8-1.

The doubles team of Grace Muse and Savanna Smith netted the Lady Patriots only win at Monticello Monday, downing Lady Cardinals Faith Hicks and McKenna Hatfield 6-3 in the two-seeded match.

Singles play produced the Patriots’ lone win at Wayne, as Kade Bandura, playing at the two seed, defeated Jordan Sexton 7-5.

Despite the lopsided loss at Wayne, the Lincoln teams did wage serious challenges in several matches before falling to their hosts.

In the girls match, Smith and Muse battled hard in singles competition and the team of Raelyn Amon and Kaitlyn Wilks challenged in doubles. Smith picked up five games against Wayne’s Macy Weaver only to fall 8-5 in the top-seeded match. Muse also won five games before dropping her match 7-5 to McKenzie Bell at six. Amon and Wilks tried to take down Wayne’s top-seeded doubles team of Grayson Roberts and Nicole Hesse but fell 8-4.

The doubles team of Carter Story and Bandura flirted with victory in the top-seeded boys doubles match, but was edged out 9-7 by Wayne’s Jordan Sexton and Andrew Bertram. The Lincoln boys picked up four or more games in three other matches, with Lee Amon falling 6-4 to Bertram at three in singles, Colin Green bowing 7-5 to Aaron Hesse at four and the doubles team of Amon and Green falling 6-4 to Grayson Guffey and Presley Reynolds at two.

Muse was a part of the Lincoln girls lone win in the home match with East Jessamine Thursday. She and Abby Hale topped East’s Marie Slone and Erin Rice 8-0 at the two seed in doubles.

East Jessamine narrowly escaped with a win in the girls top-seeded singles match, as H. Dixon edged Lincoln’s Smith 9-7 (10-6). Amon and Wilks also battled hard in their match at one in doubles but fell 8-5 to Karina Karpyuk and Irena Grischuk.

Only one boys match was played against East Jessamine and Bandura and Amon teamed up in the doubles match for an easy 8-0 win.
