We were saddened to hear Sunday, April 14 of the passing of one of our church members, Robbie Hubbard. He has been a long time member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and often helped receive the offering. He was the son of Lanny and Sandy Hubbard and brother to Michael.

Kallie Bailey sang “You never change; You are the God You say You are! What love is this? You laid down Your life for me and made a way for me to know You!” Beautiful words to ponder during Easter week.

“Being Sure on Judgment Day” from 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 was the site and subject of Bro. Kyle’s message Sunday. Bro. Kyle asked a thought-provoking question to begin his message – “Could we pass an evaluation if our lives and our ways of living were being recorded for everyone to know?” By becoming a Christian, we would pass because Jesus paid the penalty for our sins and did everything for us!

In this passage, Paul did not give a time-line for the second coming of Christ or the Great Judgment. He did say that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief for many people catching them off guard. The second coming will be like labor pains. The tribulation will be painful, but Paul wrote that Christians should not be worried by all this. Christians will be kept safe because of our belief in Christ.

Bro. Kyle then read from Revelation 20:11-15. God will use many books (plural) that record all that is said or done. God will use another book – the Book of Life that contains all the names of the believers. Believers will be judged but differently from nonbelievers. Christians’ judgment will be according to their rewards.

The service concluded with the observation of the Lord’s Supper.
