The Lincoln County High School tennis teams did not fare well on a recent road trip to Somerset, with the host Lady Jumpers and Jumpers sweeping the match.

The Lady Patriots did pick up a win in the match, but only one as the Lady Jumpers netted a 4-1 victory. The Patriots failed to notch a win as the Jumpers blanked them 5-0.

Emily Byrd, playing at the three seed for the Lincoln girls, claimed the lone win in the match. She defeated Somerset’s Karlee Sneham 6-1.

Alyea Towle and the doubles team of Raelyn Amon and Kaitlynn Wilks did get a couple wins in their matches before falling 8-2. Towle bowed to Somerset’s Charity Nickell in the singles one-seed match and Amon and Wilks lost to Makenzie Clouse and Devon Neely at one in doubles.

William Hawkins would be the only Patriot to win a couple games in the match. Hawkins was beaten 8-2 by Somerset’s Aryan Patel at the two seed in singles.

The Lady Patriots were shut out in a previous match at Mercer, falling 5-0.

Madison Caudill, playing at the two-seed for Lincoln, flirted with victory in her match with Mercer’s Karmen Murray by winning six games before falling 8-6.

The Lincoln tennis teams will celebrate Senior Night tonight (Thursday) as they play host to Southwestern. The match is set for a 4:45 p.m. start.
