Robert W. Young, 77, of Stanford, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Stanford Care & Rehabilitation Center.

Robert was born in Stanford on October 26, 1941, to the late William “W.T.” and Edith Marie (Carrier) Young. He was the husband of the late Barbara Sue Taylor Young who preceded him in death on January 5, 2010. Robert had formerly worked for the Southern Railroad and was a barber for over 50 years. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Christian Church where he was a former deacon. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a self proclaimed “Health Guru”.

Survivors include his two sons, Tim Young and wife Melissa of Waynesburg and Mark Young and wife Deanna of Stanford; special friend, Roberta Addington; sister, Linda Young Borden of Winchester; grandson, Andrew Turner; two great-grandchildren, Ayden and Abrielle Turner; and his dog, Katie.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Victor C. Young.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2019 at Mt. Moriah Christian Church with Pastor Bill Gooch officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will after 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Mt. Moriah Christian Church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Logan and Brent Adams, Brian Shearer, Brandon Meek, Larry Joe Long and Jeremy Mullins.
