Vivian B. Cummins Kirby Pennington, 90, of Berea, Ky., and formerly of Crab Orchard, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 at Heritage Springs Nursing Home in West Chester, Ohio.

Born in Crab Orchard, Ky., on February 4, 1929, Vivian was a daughter of the late Eva F. (Smith) and Esmer S. Cummins. She was the widow of Floyd Kirby and Glenn Pennington. Vivian was a member of Bethel Church of Christ. She owned and operated Kirby’s Dollar Store in Crab Orchard for many years and was a former employee of Renfro Valley.

Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis and husband Merrel Lee; two sons, Butch and wife Teresa Kirby and Darrell and wife Pam Kirby; one stepdaughter, Barbara Greenleaf; two stepsons, J. P. and Bobby Pennington; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Mike Haas; one sister, Lillian Gooch; and four brothers, Vernon, E.J., Clancy and Denver Cummins.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today (Thursday, March 28) at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Vola Brown officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation is prior to the funeral service from noon until 2 p.m. at McKnight Funeral Home

Pallbearers include Butch, Darrell, Blake, Jeremy and Kevin Kirby and Merrel and Mike Lee.
