Lincoln County split with Mercer County Tuesday in a boy/girl tennis doubleheader at Harrodsburg.

The Patriot netters scored a decisive win on the road, shutting down the host Titans 8-1. But it was the Lady Titans winning big in the girls match as they blanked the Lady Patriots 5-0.

Kade Bandura and Baylor Mattingly posted shutouts in their wins for Lincoln, with Bandura winning 6-0 over Mercer’s Jake Becknell at two and Mattingly beating John Hayslett 6-0 at six.

Carter Story, playing as Lincoln’s top singles seed, won 6-4 against Mercer’s Bryson Marcum. Colin Green also won 6-4 in his match at four, beating Jonah Lewis.

Gavin Fowler rounded out Lincoln’s singles wins with a 6-1 victory at five against Nicholas Walden.

Story and Bandura had little trouble with Marcum and Becknell in the top-seeded doubles match, winning 6-2.

However, Mercer teams would seriously challenge Lincoln in the two- and three-seeded matches before bowing to the visitors, with the outcome in both decided by tiebreaker.

Amon and Green won 7-6 in a 7-2 tiebreaker over Camden Moseley and Lewis at two and William Hawkins and Caydunn Randall edged out Kobie Wessley and Walden in a 7-5 tiebreaker at three.

Lincoln’s only loss in the match came at the three seed in singles as Amon was defeated 6-1 by Moseley.

Girls results were unavailable.
