Martial Arts classes

Garrard County Community Education is now enrolling kids for Youth Martial Arts classes to be held March 21 through May 2. These classes are open to youth ages four to 12 and meets each Thursday from 5-6 p.m. at the Garrard Education Center. The fee for the six sessions is $55 and payment with registration is due by March 21. Please register through the community education office and contact Deronda.sears@garrard.kyschools.us for more information.

String Art Class

Join Lincoln County 4-H for a String Art Class on Monday, March 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension Office. Participants will make a project you can take home. You will need to bring a pair of needle nose pliers. To register, visit bit.ly/4Hstringart or call (606) 365-2447 and pay $20 by Friday, March 8. All proceeds to benefit LC 4-H Dominican Republic Service project.

Trivia Night

The Lincoln County 4-H is holding a Trivia Night on Friday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension Office. Cost is $10 per person. There will be 10 themed rounds of 10 questions each. Themes will cover current events, Bible stories, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and more. Teams can have up to eight people. Win a variety of prizes. Register by calling (606) 365-2447 or visiting bit.ly/4HTriviaNight. Pay by cash, check or card at the door. All proceeds benefit the Lincoln County 4-H Dominican Republic Service project.

Indoor Yard Sale

4-H Youth are planning an indoor yard sale for Saturday, March 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 104 Metker Trail. All proceeds will be used to attend a service trip to the Dominican Republic.

Hooves of Hope golf scramble

Hooves of Hope Equestrian Center will be hosting its second annual Golf Scramble at Old Bridge Golf Club Saturday, June 1 starting at 9 a.m. If you are interested in participating, please contact Rhonda Bullock via email at rhonda.hoovesofhope@aol.com or via phone at (859) 792-8938. All proceeds will go toward our Operation Hope: Veterans Program and our At-Risk-Youth Program. Hooves of Hope is a non-profit organization that provides children and adults, with diverse needs, a solid foundation for developing life skills through equine assisted activities and therapies, in a safe and caring environment.

Wilderness Trace KFTC to meet

The Wilderness Trace Chapter of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth will meet Monday, March 4 at 7 p.m. at Inter-County Energy Community Room, 1009 Hustonville Rd., Danville (the community room entrance is on the left side of the Inter-County building).

Meat Cutting Demo

A meat cutting demo will be held Thursday, March 7 at 6 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension Office. Guest instructor will be Dr. Gregg Rentfrow, UK Meats Specialist. Learn about the different cuts of meat, how to cook those cuts, and how to cut your very own designer steaks. Free meal grilled by the Lincoln County Cattlemen’s Association members. Child Development Services for children

The Lincoln County Early Childhood program offers child development services to eligible infants and toddlers and their families through Early Head Start, which was recently recognized with a level 5 Kentucky All STARS Rating, the highest level in the state’s quality rating system. Early Head Start enhances children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development. Early Head Start classrooms are located at the Stanford Early Childhood Center at Stanford Elementary. Prepare to Care: A Planning Guide for Families

A free Planning Guide for Families workshop will be held Tuesday, March 12 at 10 a.m. at the Lincoln County Extension Office. Come, learn through an interactive skit presented by your own friends, learn about information, resources, and checklists to help you get organized and find support. Caring for a family member or close friend is one of the most important roles you play. Register by Thursday, March 7 by calling the extension office at (606) 365-2447.

Septic System Problems?

A free workshop will be held to help those with Septic System Problems on Tuesday, March 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hustonville Baptist Church Family Life Center. This is for residents who reside within the Hanging Fork and Clarks Run watersheds. The workshop will inform participants of how the septic system works and how to properly maintain it to prevent expensive repairs. You may qualify for septic financial assistance – information and applications will be provided at the meeting. Registration is encouraged but not required at BGGREENSOURCE.ORG/SEPTIC-CARE-WORKSHOPS. Cow/calf and chemical meeting

The Lincoln County Cattlemen’s Association and the Lincoln County Farm Bureau are sponsoring a cow/calf and chemical meeting on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension Office. Dinner will be served. Extension specialists, Dr. Jeff Lehmuhler and Dr. J. D. Green will be the guest speakers.

Nominations are being accepted for annual Chamber awards

The annual Chamber Banquet and Awards Program will be held Tuesday, April 16. Nominations are now being accepted for Citizen for the Year, Healthcare Worker of the Year, Business of the Year and Big Apple. Girls Who Code Clubs

Girls Who Code Club for grades 3-5 and 6-12 meet at Lincoln County Public Library. The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 5. Crab Orchard Community Garden

A Crab Orchard Community Garden, sponsored by the Lincoln County 4-H, is free to residents and children. Grow food and share with your neighbors. Supplies provided. Meet at the city park in Crab Orchard the first Friday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. For more information, call (606) 365-2447.
