Countdown to the Siege

Countdown to the Siege: Letters from Mary Logan Smith: Saturday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. Join us as Marion Cooper portrays Mary Logan Smith, daughter of Benjamin Logan. Mary was born at Logan’s Fort in 1782. At age 62, she puts pen to paper in two letters to the great historian, Lyman Draper. Her letters relate many interesting details about her father and events at the Fort.

Movie Screening

Afternoon Movie Screening: Thursday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. Join members of our Book Club for an afternoon movie at the Lincoln County Public Library. Light refreshments provided. Summary: Four friends in a book club are inspired to spice things up after reading Fifty Shades of Grey. With each of them in a different romantic situation, the women gather inspiration and tips for the bedroom and try new things later in life.

LC Board of Health to meet

The Lincoln County Board of Health will have its regularly scheduled Board of Health meeting Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 12:30 p.m. in the conference room at the Lincoln County Health Department, 44 Health Way, Stanford.

The Lincoln County Health Department will be closing at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20 for a staff meeting.

Baking for one, two or a few

Baking for one, two or a few will be held Monday, Feb. 25 starting at 11 a.m. at the Lincoln County Extension office. Participants will learn about “treat foods” not everyday foods! After you have your fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and whole grain rich foods, you might have room to indulge in desserts, cakes, cookies and candies. It’s all about portions and this program will focus on making smaller amounts of baked goods. Please pre-register by Friday, Feb. 22 by calling (606) 365-2447.

Septic System Problems?

Two free workshops will be held to help those with Septic System Problems. The first will be held Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Junction City First Baptist Church, 3860 Hwy. 127 South, in Danville and the second will be held Tuesday, March 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hustonville Baptist Church Family Life Center. This is for residents who reside within the Hanging Fork and Clarks Run watersheds. The workshop will inform participants of how the septic system works and how to properly maintain it to prevent expensive repairs. Cow/calf and chemical meeting

The Lincoln County Cattlemen’s Association and the Lincoln County Farm Bureau are sponsoring a cow/calf and chemical meeting on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension Office. Local blood donors are heroes

Local patients depend on anonymous heroes who roll up their sleeves to save lives. Cancer treatments, premature births, car accidents, diseases, surgeries and more require blood transfusions, and those patients’ lives are saved or enhanced by local blood donors.

Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) is inviting generous donors to help local patients by giving at the blood drive scheduled for Monday, Feb. 25 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Crab Orchard Elementary, 137 Lancaster Street. All donors will receive a long-sleeved Hero T-shirt.

The annual Chamber Banquet and Awards Program will be held Tuesday, April 16. Nominations are now being accepted for Citizen for the Year, Healthcare Worker of the Year, Business of the Year and Big Apple. Girls Who Code Club for grades 3-5 and 6-12 meet at Lincoln County Public Library. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 19. What is a High Tunnel?

Come and explore what a high tunnel is. Learn how to grow plants successfully in a high tunnel, how you could benefit from high tunnel growing and about grant availability for constructing a high tunnel. An Area Backgrounders Informational meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Boyle County Extension Office, 99 Corporate Drive in Danville.
