LCMS Eagles advance in SRC tourney

The Lincoln County Middle School boys basketball teams had little trouble in the first round of the Salt River Conference Postseason Tournament as the Eagles dominated their opponents.

The margins of victory for LCMS ranged from 20 to 41 points, with the eighth-grade Eagles posting the most lopsided win in a 60-19 romp of Bondurant Middle School of Frankfort. The eighth-graders are now 30-0.

The sixth-grade Eagles also met Bondurant in the opening round and they cruised 50-22 to improve to 28-10. The seventh-grade Eagles scored the 20-point win, downing Mercer County Middle School 57-37. They are now 23-5.

7th Grade
Mercer Co. at Lincoln
Lincoln 57, Mercer 37

Lincoln County, the No. 2 seed in the Salt River Conference Seventh-Grade Tournament, began its quest to become the No. 1 team with a decisive win, knocking out Mercer County Middle School 57-37.
The Eagles, led by coach Carl-Lewis Cummins, exploded on Mercer early, taking control with a 19-3 first-quarter scoring spurt.

Mercer would equal Lincoln’s offense in the second and fourth quarters with 10 points and 17 points, respectively, but the visitors never threatened the Lincoln lead.

Seth Horton and Connor Davis paced Lincoln with 16 points and four steals apiece.
Jackson Withrow contributed six points and seven rebounds, Blade Nuckols and Landon Day each had six points, Sawyer Horton had four points, four assists and six steals, J.C. Bryant had two points and Elan Lane had one point and six assists.

First Round

6th Grade
Lincoln 50, Bondurant 22

Lincoln County’s sixth-grade Eagles, the No. 2 seed, took down No. 7 seed Bondurant Middle School of Frankfort 50-22 in the opening round of the Salt River Conference Postseason Tournament played at LCMS.

Lincoln, led by coach Steve Ralston, jumped on Bondurant 14-8 in the first quarter then blew the game open over the next two frames, outscoring the visitors 29-6. The Eagles outpointed Bondurant 19-2 in the second quarter to extend their lead to 33-10 at the half, then used a 10-4 edge to take a 43-14 lead into the final period.

Sawyer Robbins poured in 16 points to lead Lincoln in the win. He also had four steals. Matthew Slone finished in double figures as well, scoring 14 points while getting four assists.

Jax Reynolds scored six points, Troy Lee had five points and six rebounds, Kash Smith had four points and 11 rebounds, Jack Smith also had four points and Tucker Elkins had one point.

8th Grade
Lincoln 60, Bondurant 19

Tramane Alcorn double-doubled in the Lincoln County eighth-grade team’s Salt River Conference Tournament opener, swishing in a game-high 26 points and grabbing 15 rebounds to help the No. 1 Eagles steamroll visiting Bondurant Middle School 60-19.

Lincoln, which is coached by Eric Ralston, scored all the points it needed for the win in the first quarter, exploding out to a 24-6 lead over Bondurant, the tourney’s No. 8 seed.

The Eagles edged Bondurant 10-7 in the second quarter to extend their lead to 34-13 then came out in the third quarter to roll 19-4 and post a 53-17 lead going into the final frame.

Colton Ralston contributed 10 points in the victory, Layne Lark scored eight points and had five steals, Jansen McAninch had five points and four assists, Trevor Miracle had five points and six rebounds, Zack Moore got four points and six rebounds and Jalen Smith had two points.
