Eastern beats Lincoln 63-54

The Lincoln County boys came up on the wrong side of the scoreboard Friday night at Louisville Eastern as the host Eagles handed the Patriots a 63-54 loss.

Eastern (3-4) jumped out to a 14-9 lead in the first quarter and remained in front after every quarterstop.

Lincoln (4-3) did improve offensively over the game, putting up 24 points in the final frame, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Eastern’s consistent double-digit scoring.

Blake Smith scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Patriots, going 8-for-15 from the field, 2-for-4 from 3-point range. Elijah Frye also finished in double figures, going 6-for-9 from the field, 4-for-6 at the line, for 16 points.

Lincoln shot 50 percent as a team, going 22-for-44 overall, 2-for-8 from 3-point range. At the free-throw line, the Patriots were 8-for-14.

Eastern finished at 57.5 percent from the field, going 23-for-40, 9-for-19 from 3. The Eagles were 8-for-12 at the foul line.

Ethan Coury led the Eagles in the win with 18 points, Jacob Robinson followed with 14 points and Trent Robinson added 10 points.

Eastern also won the rebounding battle, 25-19. Trent Robinson led the Eagles with five rebounds. Jackson Molsberger had four boards. Lincoln’s Riley Bodner had a game-high eight rebounds.
