George T. Reid, Jr., 89

George T. Reid, Jr., 89, of Stanford, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at Stanford Care & Rehabilitation.

George was born January 19, 1929, in Lincoln County to the late Virginia Owsley Reid and George Thomas Reid, Sr. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School. George retired from E. W. Brown Power Plant in Burgin. He was active in his community serving the housing authority, senior citizens, and Fort Logan Committees. Also, he was a Kentucky Colonel. In addition, he was devoted to the First Missionary Baptist Church, Stanford, serving as a deacon and Sunday School superintendent. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and maintaining his flower beds.

George is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Christine Ross Reid; two daughters, Judy (George) Higgins of Versailles, Ky., and Wanda Reid of Lexington, Ky.; one grandson, George (Kathy) Higgins III of Louisville, Ky.; two great grandchildren, Isabella Higgins and Ian Vanover of Louisville, Ky.; a special nephew, Douglas (Mary) Reid of Stanford, Ky.; a special niece, Sharon Reid of Stanford, Ky.; two special sisters-in-law, Mary Reid of Stanford, Ky., and Anne Sleet; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018 at First Missionary Baptist Church, Stanford, Kentucky. Burial was in the Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Smith-Jackson Funeral Home was in charge.
