Gene Snyder, 76

Gene Snyder, 76, of Waynesburg, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, at Charlestown Health Care Center in Danville.

Gene was born on July 15, 1942, a son of the late Okie (Maggard) and Charlie Snyder. He was the husband of Frances A. (Simpson) Snyder. They were married November 4, 1961 in Waynesburg. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher and trustee. He was a retired machine operator for Penn Ventilator where he worked for 36 years.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Frances Snyder; sons, David and wife, Nona and Paul and wife, Pam; daughter-in-law, Donna Snyder; brother, Bill Snyder; four grandchildren, Whitney Snyder, Charlie Snyder, Mackenzie Goode and Harley Snyder; and one great grandchild, Ellianna Snyder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Danny Snyder; and two brothers, Jack and Walter Roy Snyder.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny Thompson and Bro. Shelby Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Charlie Snyder, Tony Snyder, Doug Snyder, Cody Snyder, and Dewayne and Joey Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers were Benny Simpson, Hal Oaks, Wayne Saylor, Jerry Genton, Walter Dowell, Henry McCowan, and The Adult Men’s Sunday School Class of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.

McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard was in charge of the arrangements.
