Don’t forget!!! Time changes this weekend. Fall back one hour!

A lunch will be held Sunday, Nov. 4 following the service at the shelter to help raise funds for expenses for the Haiti Mission trip. The meal will be provided. Come and enjoy soups and sandwiches with us. Donations will be taken at the door or you may give during the offering time (designate: Haiti Trip).

Ladies, we are having our fourth annual gift exchange Thursday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall. We are asking you to bring gifts that begin with the first letter of your first name, with a limit of $12. Soups, sandwiches, and fun are on the schedule.

Our annual senior Thanksgiving luncheon will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 11:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall. The turkey, ham, rolls, and drinks will be provided. Please bring the fixin’s and dessert.

Our church will be taking a mission trip to Boone, N.C. to work in the processing center for Operation Christmas Child. We have 12 spots to fill and will attend for two days helping check and fill OCC boxes before being sent to children. We are leaving Friday, Dec. 14 and returning Sunday, Dec. 16. Many of the youth across Lincoln County participated in the DNOW program last weekend. Along with cans of food, many hygienic supplies and money were gathered for this great cause. Pleasant View won the Golden Skillet award again. Congratulations and thanks for a job well done, Lincoln County!!

Rachel Hester and Jonathan McNiel sang a special with these words Sunday, Oct. 28: “Jesus satisfies all my longings; through His blood I now am saved.” Brenda Cook gave a testimony and thanked God for taking her through all the trials of life.

Bro. Kyle’s message from 1 Thessalonians 1:8b-9 was entitled Hope in the Power of the Gospel for Addicts.” “We all worship something!” stated Bro. Kyle. Our main problem is that instead of worshipping our Creator, we worship the creation. God created everything; He, alone, deserves our praise, worship, and adoration.

Idolatry is a human problem that has been here since the fall in the Garden of Eden! By definition an idol is any person, place, or thing we put ahead of God.

Addiction can come in the form of many things. It is an idol that someone looks to for immediate relief and is not always a substance addiction. We can be set free from idolatry/addiction by the Gospel of Jesus Christ; our freedom and salvation is in Him. “Hope for change does not start with what we need to do. Hope for change starts with Jesus Christ and what He has already done for us”, concluded Bro. Kyle.
