In our country, the major way citizens have a voice in decisions that impact them is by voting. In any election, one vote does make a difference. A recent example of this is the Stanford City Council race in 2014 that ended in a tie. In this coming election on Nov. 6, 2018, we all have a chance to make some very important decisions concerning not only our immediate futures but long term results as well.

In this year’s general election, voters here in Lincoln County will be deciding on local officials (both city and county), state representative, U. S. Representative, district judges, family court judge, state Supreme Court justice, and a state constitutional amendment. These are all very important positions of leadership that will effect all of our lives and families. It is a long ballot and it will take time to vote, but it is worth the effort. Educate yourself on the candidates and their positions so that you can make an informed decision when you go to the polls.

For a democracy such as we have here in the United States to work, it takes participation by the citizens. Exercise your rights of citizenship by voting. Remember to go to the polls on November 6 so that your voice can be heard! One vote does make a difference!
