We extend sympathy and prayers to the following: Bridgett Blakeman and Kelly Wilson and families; their cousin Matthew Hamilton passed away last week, and to Dewilla Holtzclaw and family whose great niece Natasha Benedict passed away in a car accident last week.

Shelby Morgan sang a special during the offering on Sunday, Oct. 7. Words with special meaning from “Worthy Is the Lamb” are as follows: “You are my Everything and I will adore you. Jesus, Your name is Power.”

This was appropriately followed by a song featuring Nikki Bailey, Sophie Cornett, and Judy and Josh Jacobs. “What a Wonderful Name It Is” emphasizes what a wonderful, powerful name the name of Jesus is. “You have no rival; You have no equal. What a powerful name it is – the name of JESUS!” Isn’t it just remarkable that we can call upon His name at any time and anywhere.

Ron Andrew brought the morning message while Bro. Kyle and his family were on vacation. “How to Stand When We Don’t Understand” was the topic of his message and was taken from Isaiah 43:1-7.

Many people go through many trying times during their lifetimes. Where do we go? What do we do? Bro. Ron’s answer: We stand on what we do understand; we stand on the precious promises of God; and we stand on the precious Covenant names of God. The ONLY place/person we can go to when we face these uncertain times and don’t understand why is JESUS!

He concluded by giving a list of the names for Jesus. They are as follows: Jehovah Jireh (our provider); Jehovah Rapha (our physician); Jehovah Nissi (our protector); Jehovah Rohi (our principle); Jehovah Shalom (our peace); Jehovah Tsidkenu (our provision); Jehovah Shammah (our presence); and Jehovah M’Kaddesh (our perfecter). “Take the Name of Jesus With You” by reflecting on these different names for Him.

Dates to remember: Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. AIM pregnancy center annual dinner in Somerset; Oct. 14 from 5- 6 p.m. MasterLife study; Oct. 17 – Senior potluck luncheon at 11:30 a.m.; Oct. 15 – 19 – Christmas Backpacks; Dec. 29-31 – Winter Xtreme for youth in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

Thought for the week: “A diamond is a chunk of coal that is made good under pressure.”
