The Lincoln County Middle School girls basketball teams hauled home two trophies from the Salt River Conference Postseason Tournament, with the seventh-grade Lady Eagles returning with a championship trophy and the sixth-grade team bringing home a runner-up trophy.

The seventh-grade team, which is coached by Chansler Gilbert, defeated Anderson County 34-22 in the title game at East Jessamine Middle School Monday night, finishing undefeated at 22-0. Anderson came out on top in the sixth grade final as Anderson edged Lincoln 26-24 in overtime. The sixth-grade team, which is coached by Danny Griffin, finishes 17-1.

Lincoln’s eighth-grade team made it to the semifinal round of its division before host East Jessamine knocked the Lady Eagles out of contention in a 49-40 win. The eighth-grade team, led by coach Rebecca Shearer, finishes 15-7.

Lincoln 34, Anderson 22

Makayla Greer and Talynne Shearer combined for 25 points to lead Lincoln County to a 34-22 victory in the Salt River Conference Seventh Grade Tournament championship game.
Greer led all scorers with 15 points and Shearer followed with 10 points.

Lincoln outscored Anderson 8-2 in the second quarter to open up a close game.

Anderson edged Lincoln 9-8 in the third to make it 25-17 before the Lady Eagles closed on an 11-5 run to seal the win.

Ellie Sims, Alexia Baldock, Macy Carrier and Hallie Mullins each had two points for Lincoln and Chelsa Reed had a free-throw toss.

Briscoe led Anderson with six points, Satterly added five points, Hahn had four, Hyatt, three, and Cooper and Johnson each had two points.

Semifinal Round
Lincoln 37, Bondurant 14

Lincoln County’s seventh-grade team exploded out to a 14-2 start in the Salt River Conference Seventh Grade Tournament semifinals and never looked back, rolling into the finals with a 37-14 win.

Ellis Sims was Lincoln’s leading scorer in the win with 10 points. Chelsa Reed finished one point back with nine points, Makayla Greer added seven points, Talynne Shearer had six points, Maci Rice and Tori Wilburn each had two points and Hallie Mullins had one point.

Sharp led Bondurant with five points. Roberts had three points and Waddle, Alcorn and Judy had two points apiece.

First Round
Lincoln 50, Bate 15

Ten Lady Eagles got into the scorebook in the opening round of the Salt River Conference Seventh Grade Tournament as Lincoln steamrolled Danville Bate MIddle 50-15.

Lincoln held Bate to single digits in the first and second quarters, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 15-1 and 10-4 to post a 25-5 halftime lead.

Lincoln’s leading scorer was Macy Carrier with 12 points. Talynne Shearer also hit double figures with 10 points.

Other Lady Eagles contributing in the win were Chelsa Reed with seven points, Ellie Sims with five points, Makayla Greer and Alexia Baldock each with four points, and Gaitlin Hunt, Tori Wilburn, Milah Mullins and Talyen Ralston had two points apiece.

Bate was led by Turner with seven points. Berry added four points and Doneghy and Byrd each had two.

Championship Game
Anderson 26, Lincoln 24 (OT)

Anderson County Middle edged Lincoln County 26-24 in an overtime thriller in the Salt River Conference Sixth Grade Tournament Monday night.

The first quarter ended in a 4-4 tie but Anderson outpointed Lincoln 8-5 in the second period to post a 12-9 halftime lead.

The margin remained at three, 18-15, as the teams moved into the fourth quarter. Lincoln forced the overtime by outscoring Anderson 7-4 in the fourth to knot the game at 22-all.

Anderson would go on to outscore Lincoln 4-2 in the extra period to claim the championship win.

Alexia Baldock led Lincoln’s scoring with a game-high 14 points. Hallie Mullins scored six points and Taylen Ralston scored four points.

Ball led Anderson with 10 points. Johnson and Baum both had seven points and Mitchell had two points.

Semifinal Round
Lincoln 29, Mercer 27

The Lincoln County Lady Eagles survived a second-half rally effort by Mercer County in the Salt River Conference Sixth-Grade Tournament semifinals, advancing to the championship game with a 29-27 victory.

Lincoln jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the first period and took a 17-8 edge into the half.

Down 23-16 after three quarters, Mercer rallied in the final period to outscore Lincoln 11-6. But it was too little, too late to overcome the Lady Eagles’ early lead.

Hallie Mullins paced Lincoln in the win with 15 points. Taylen Ralston added five points, Milah Mullins scored four points, Alexia Baldock had three points and Gaitlin Lewis had two.

Mercer was led by Yeast with 13 points. Irvin scored eight points and Webb had six.

Lincoln 38, West Jess. 9

Lincoln proved too much for West Jessamine in the opening round of the Salt River Conference Sixth Grade Tournament, romping 38-9.

Lincoln jumped out to a 13-5 lead in the first quarter then outscored West 18-0 over the second and fourth quarters to earn the easy win.

The Lady Eagles were led by Hallie Mullins with 15 points. Taylen Ralston and Gaitlin Lewis both scored six points, Alexia Baldock had five points and Milah Mullins, Kaylee Griffin and Bailee Snow each had two points.

Ferraro had four points for West, McLoney had three, and Crum, two.

Semifinal Round
East Jess. 49, Lincoln 40

Host East Jessamine withstood a strong second-half rally by Lincoln County in the Salt River Conference Eighth-Grade Tournament, using a 17-point halftime lead to eliminate the Lady Eagles 49-40.

Lincoln, which trailed 18-5 after the first and 28-11 at the break, outscored East 29-21 in the second half but it wouldn’t be enough to overtake East.

Chloe Ralston burned the nets for a game-high 18 points for Lincoln. Chelsa Reed contributed seven points, Talynne Shearer had six points, Peyton Boyd had four, Hallie Mullins, three, and Emily Estes, two.

Christian led East with 15 points and Yeast followed with 13 points. Robinson added eight points, Dean had six, Faulkner, four, Washington, two, and Luong, one.

Consistent double-digit scoring in the first, second and third quarters helped set Lincoln on course for an easy win in the Salt River Conference Eighth-Grade Tournament’s opening round, and the Lady Eagles moved on with a 49-20 rout.

Emily Estes paced Lincoln in the win with 14 points and Chloe Ralston followed her in double digits with 10 points. Emmie Releford added seven points, Talynne Shearer had six points, Makayla Greer scored four points and Peyton Boyd, Mercedes Hensley, Chelsa Reed and Macy Carrier had two points apiece.

Ayers led Bondurant with eight points, Mitchell added six points, Roberts had three points, Travis had two and McGaughey had one.
